Ryder plug from Tantus

Along with the other goodies I got last week, I got my very first anal plug.  All together now: *awwwwww*.  This is the Ryder from Tantus in midnight purple:

What it is:

The Ryder from Tantus is a mid-sized silicone butt plug.  According to the Tantus website, it has a length of 4.1 inches and a diameter of 1.5 inches.  It is bigger than a lot of “beginner” toys but still generally recommended as a good first toy for those with at least some experience with butt play.  It has a nicely-sized neck to make sure it stays in your body, and an oblong-shaped flared base to make sure it doesn’t get lost.  Because it is made of silicone, you should use water-based lubes with it, and in addition to washing it with soap and water you can sterilize it in a number of different ways: running it through the dishwasher (no soap, top rack), boiling it for a few minutes, or rinsing it with a 10% bleach solution.

First impressions:

The Ryder came in clear packaging that focused on the beauty of the product– and it is beautiful.  Too often I see perfectly good products that come in packaging with moaning, airbrushed, overly-made-up women on the box.  Ugh.  It was refreshing to see packaging based on the appeal of the actual product!

Because the box was clear, though, I could see how big the Ryder was.  I wondered if maybe it was somehow magnified by the packaging or otherwise looked bigger than it actually was.  10 seconds later, I had it out of the box.  Nope, just as big as it looked.  First, I wondered how it was getting in my ass.  Second, I wondered about non-beginner anal plugs… if this is a small/mid-sized plug, how big are the big ones?!

T came home in the middle of this.  I handed it to him; he cocked an eyebrow.  “That’s big,” he said.  He then proceeded to use it to emphasize whatever it was he went on to talk about, the bulb wobbling with every gesture.  I giggled.

One thing I need to comment on before we move on is the smell.  The Ryder had a strong plastic-y smell to it once I took it out of the package which I believe came from the packaging.

Actual performance:

T and I have played around with butt play in the past, so the process of getting me relaxed for the plug wasn’t at all strange.  He lubed up his fingers and then licked my clit as he gently pushed first one, and then two into my ass.  When I felt completely comfortable and relaxed, we lubed up the Ryder and pressed it against my ass with gentle but consistent pressure.

Because it was my first time taking something of that size, it took a while.  But our gentleness and persistence paid off!  Once it was in, I cooed about how comfy it was.  I definitely knew it was there because it felt great, but there was nothing uncomfortable or painful about it.  The flange at the base of the Ryder is shaped so that it sits comfortably between my cheeks, and it isn’t so long as to block vaginal access.

T bent me over into doggie-style position and entered me vaginally.  It was a tight fit, but once he was in it felt great!  With a vibe on my clit, T in my vagina, and the Ryder in my ass, it wasn’t more than a minute or two before I came, and noisily.

“That sounded like it was good,” T commented.

Additional trials have proven just as pleasurable for me as the first.  Insertion time has started to come down.  I must mention that vaginal sex while wearing the Ryder does not work for me in all positions.  We have had little success with missionary or me on top.

The bottom line:

I would recommend that you get acquainted with your ass before you try putting the Ryder or any foreign object up in there.  After you do that, though, I imagine there is no better foreign object to stick up there than the Ryder!

Note: For whatever reason, the Ryder is 35%-off today (11/5/09) at EdenFantasys, so if you’ve been thinking about getting it now is the time to buy!
